It's never hurt to prepare yourself for anything in your life. Knowing your strength and weakness will increase your chance of getting the things you want. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst will increase your chance of succeed, and here are the things that you need to prepare for:

Mental Preparation
The first step to understand oneself is by stripping yourself (in your mind) of any past job-titles and ask yourself "Who Am I?" The first thing that came to people are often related to their vocation. Like: I'm a teacher, or I am a bus driver, or I am a chef. This kind of answer attach yourself with the past. You are a new person today. You must think instead: "I am a person..."
According to the book, the thought that you should think about are:
"I am a person who... has had these experiences."
"I am a person who... is skilled at doing this or that."
"I am a person who... knows a lot about this or that."
The first step to know yourself is asking the right questions. You are a person in this presence moment, not what you had done in the past or what others people told you.
